Adapted treatment reduces the symptoms and helps to control the anxiety. However, the evolution of the anxiety state may be marked by relapses. In which case treatment will need to be resumed.
Anxiety disorders can lead to several types of reactions with associated risks:
- Psychological reactions: depression, suicide attempts.
- Behavioural reactions: addictions to tobacco, coffee, alcohol, drugs, etc.
In addition, the onset of generalized anxiety promotes the development of other anxiety disorders: phobia, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
