Physical activity is any movement of the body that is responsible for an increase in energy expenditure. It is therefore not necessary to be athletic to engage in physical activity. Studies have shown the beneficial effects from even light activity.
There are plenty of opportunities in everyday life to maintain or increase physical activity.
At home :
- vacuuming;
- walking the dog;
- gardening;
- shopping for groceries rather than having them delivered.
During leisure time :
- playing with your children;
- dancing.
At work, in the professional setting:
- taking the stairs;
- going to work on foot.
When commuting:
- walking rather than taking transportation;
- getting off at the previous stop;
- moving around by bike.
