Physical symptoms

Slowed activity requiring effort – Tiredness – Loss of energy – Sleep disturbances (insomnia or hypersomnia) – Appetite disturbances – Pain – Feeling of tightness – Heavy step – Expressionless face – Toneless voice – Incomplete gestures.

Emotional symptoms

Sadness – Loss of interest – Lack of pleasure – No longer enjoy anything – Negative judgements about self – Negative thoughts towards those around.

Mental symptoms

Altered moods and thoughts – Pessimism – Altered representation of the future – Recurrent thoughts of death – Recurrent suicidal ideation.

Behavioural symptoms

Concentration problems – Memory problems – Difficulty acting – Indecision – Difficulty communicating – Withdrawal.
